The Bihar government on Saturday said all schools in the city will remain closed till June 19 in view of the prevailing weather condition. Patna district magistrate Kumar Ravi said allgovernment and private schools of Patna will remain shut till June 19, due to persisting heatwave-like condition for thepast several days, an official release said.
A number of private schools were scheduled to open inthe week starting June 17 after the summer vacation. This is the second time the district administrationhas extended suspension of academic activities in schools dueto the weather. Earlier on June 9, the DM had ordered closure ofschools till June 16.

Last year in June 2018, the Bihar government had ordered suspension of academic activities upto standard 8th in all schools in Patna in voew of the prevailing hot weather conditions.
Private schools in the state capital were slated to open on June 18 but it was extended due to prolonged heatwave conditions arising out of the delay in the arrival of the monsoon. Ravi Kumar had ordered summer vacation of students from class 1 to 8 be further extended till June 23 in view of heat wave conditions here.
