Supreme Court on Tuesday has directed all the medical colleges in Tamil Nadu to use National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) as the only basis for admission across the state. It has also asked the state government to start counselling immediately and finish the same by September 4, 2017.
"SC says medical colleges in Tamil Nadu will have to use National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) as the only basis for admissions," news agency ANI twweted a couple of minutes back.
"Supreme Court asks the Tamil Nadu government to start counselling immediately & finish by 4th September," ANI tweeted further.
Earlier, the Supreme Court on Thursday put the counselling process on hold till August 22 and asked MCI and the state government to find a "balanced" solution to deal with the interests of state board students and those who cleared NEET.

Tamil Nadu, which had initially sought permanent exemption from NEET by passing two Bills in the Assembly, later made efforts to be out of its ambit for at least a year or two.
