ABVP To Provide Tickets To DU Graduates In DUSU Elections 2019
ABVP has taken the lesson from the former DU Students’ Union President Ankiv Baisoya’s fake degree, and will now provide tickets for DUSU Elections 2019 to only those candidates who are DU graduates. ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) has taken the decision to stay careful this year while selecting candidates for the DUSU elections that is going to be held on September 12, 2019.
Siddharth Yadhav, ABVP, said that the decision was taken considering the recent mistake that took place in the earlier DU elections. He further added that the party cannot verify every candidate’s degree before giving him/her a ticket. He also said that the university already takes ample time to crosscheck the degrees of the candidates and because of this the party has decided to take the respective precautionary measures.
Earlier, Ankiv Baisoya from ABVP won the presidential post of the Delhi University Student Union Election, however his degree was found to be fake and his admission was cancelled. As a result of these, Ankiv was also suspended by the ABVP.
He also added that these potential candidates have been asked to submit their original documents and personal verification of their documents will be conducted before finalizing their candidature.
Siddharth Yadav said the new step will give setback to a few of the candidates but the organization is not willing to take any risk whatsoever. Yadav further said that they have shortlisted 10 students as deserving candidates and all of them are from Delhi University itself. All the shortlisted candidates are asked to produce the original academic documents for verification.
In the meantime, DUSU 2019 Elections will be conducted on September 12, 2019.
