Rajasthan University postpones exams due to Gujjar agitation
The Ongoing Gujjar Protests In The State For Reservation Has Forced The Rajasthan University (RU) To Postpone The University Examination Starting From 13-16 February.
The ongoing Gujjar protests in the state for reservation has forced the Rajasthan University (RU) to postpone the University Examination starting from 13-16 February. Around 1 lakh 42 thousand students are giving the exams this year, but will now have to wait for the further declaration of new examination dates. The Registrar of the university Kesar Lal Meena was quoted by TOI saying, “The students at the examination centres in Mahua and Dausa might have a problem as due to the ongoing protest, roads are jammed and section 144 is enforced in many districts of the state. We do not want to take any risk, so we decided to postpone the examination and further decision will be taken once the situation becomes under control.’’
Due to the protests, highway roads and rail networks is completely jammed by the protesters demanding for 5% reservation in the government services and education. The administration has also been forced to enforce Section 144 of IPC in some of the Gujjar dominated districts such as Tonk, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, and others
