Owaisi-led AIMIM to contest Karnataka Assembly Elections
We Are Contesting In The Karnataka Polls But The Number Of Seats Is Yet To Be Finalised, The Sources Said, Adding That The Party Is Not Looking At Electoral Alliance And Would Go It Alone In The May 12 Elections
Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) would field candidates in the Karnataka Assembly elections scheduled on May 12, according to party sources on Tuesday.
"We are contesting in the Karnataka polls but the number of seats is yet to be finalised," the sources said, adding that the party is not looking at electoral alliance and would go it alone in the May 12 elections.
The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that the state elections will be held in a single phase on May 12 and the counting of votes will take place on May 15.
The term of the current 224-member legislative Assembly ends on May 28. And the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has seven members in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
