Devoleena Bhattacharjee aka Gopi of 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' detained in diamond trader murder case
The Police Refused To Share More Details About Bhattacharjee’s Role In The Case But Hinted That More Actresses From The Entertainment Industry Could Be Summoned For Interrogation.
Devoleena Bhattacharjee aka Gopi of TV drama show ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ has been detained by Mumbai Police in connection with the mysterious murder of a diamond trader, officials said on Saturday. The ‘Sath Nibhana Sathiya’ actress was interrogated for hours and detained three days after the murder of Rajeshwar Udani – a city-based diamond merchant. Besides the model-turned-actress, a politician – Sachin Pawar – was also arrested by the police. Pawar was said to be very close to the deceased diamond merchant. He used to work for Maharashtra minister Prakash Mehta.
The arrest and detention of the actress and the former Maharashtra minister’s aide came three days after the body of Rajeshwar Udani was found in a forest area near the Raigad district.

Although the police refused to share more details about Bhattacharjee’s role in the case, they hinted that more actresses from the entertainment industry could be summoned for interrogation.
The 57-year-old diamond merchant had gone missing from his office on November 28. His family had registered a missing complaint and the police initiated a search for him. His mobile phone location was last active in Rabale area of Navi Mumbai.
However, the police could not trace him for about a week and after that, the family began to fear something amiss. The police then registered a case of kidnapping against unknown persons.
