Dr Shaida Abdali resigns as Afghanistan envoy to India, says stepping down tough but appealing
Afghanistan’s Ambassador to India Dr Shaida Abdali on Wednesday announced his resignation as the Afghan Ambassador to India, saying stepping down was a tough but an appealing decision.
Abdali’s resignation comes on the same day Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani visited India and held wide-ranging talks with PM Modi to further boost bilateral cooperation.

Abdali took to Twitter to announce his resignation and wrote, “India not only gave me a home feeling but added a wealth of knowledge and plethora of experience to my over 2 decades long political career. The exceptional warmth, hospitality and friendship extended to me during my tenure will remain a hallmark in my political career,” adding after serving his country for years, he now felt the need to serve his country from within.

“The limits to our exceptional relationship is only Sky and I wish my successor all the best and success in this extremely important endeavor. Long Live India - Afghanistan Friendship!” Abdali tweeted.
