Goa: State-run Kadamba Transport Corp to remove Sunny Leone's face from condom advert
State-run Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTCL) On Thursday Said It Would Remove Sunny Leone’s Face From A Condom Advertisement Poster On Its Buses As Directed By The Goa State Women Commission.
State-run Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTCL) on Thursday said it would remove Sunny Leone’s face from a condom advertisement poster on its buses as directed by the Goa State Women Commission.
“We will remove her face from posters in a phased manner. First we will remove it from the buses which ferry school children,” said Daryl Natto, KTCL’s Managing Director.
A local organisation had taken objection to the posters. “The advertisements are approved by the authorities. The same posters are also pasted on the buses in Uttar Pradesh and some other states,” Natto told PTI.
The Women’s Commission ordered KTCL to remove Leone’s face from the posters after ‘Ranaragini’, a local NGO, took objection to the pictures of women in contraceptive advertisements on Kadamba buses and other public places.
Natto said that a Mumbai-based agency has been given the contract to lease the advertising space on buses. KTCL would request the agency to remove Leone’s face from the posters, he said. “We will have to convince the agency...I think the agency will cooperate,” he said.
