Uri attacks: India hands over proof of Pakistan's involvement; names terrorist, handlers and guides

India summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and presented the proof of Pakistani origins of Uri attack handlers, spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, Vikas Swarup, said on Tuesday.
“Foreign Secretary calls in Pakistan HC Basit today & presents proof of Cross border origins of Uri Attacks. Informs him that the two guides who helped infiltration were apprehended by local villagers and are now in custody,†Swarup tweeted.
He also provided the details of the guides that include Faizal Hussain Awan, 20 years, resident of Potha Jahangir, Muzzaffarabad and Yasin Khurshid, 19 years, from Khiliana Kalan, Muzzaffarabad.
Swarup said that the preliminary probe has revealed the identity of one of the slain Uri attackers, who has been identified as Hafiz Ahmed from Dharbang, Muzaffarabad. He said that the details of handlers have also been obtained – Mohd Kabir Awan and Basharat.Â
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar has termed the continuing cross-border terrorist attacks from Pakistan against India as unacceptable, said Swarup.
At least 18 Indian army soldiers were martyred when four terrorists attacked the base camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri September 18.
