Union finance minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday accused Congress party of being an “opportunist,†saying all finance ministers of Congress-ruled states have backed GST, but not the party leadership.
While talking to ANI in Washington, Jaitley said the NDA government has taken bold steps to improve the economy and the nation has received praise for it globally. "Structural reforms like IBC insolvency code, GST, demonetization need courage," he said.
He said the world was in economic slowdown for past three years, and India is growing and taking advantage of the situation after the government has implemented structural reforms.
When asked about people’s support on demonetisation, Jaitley said results of Gujarat elections will clear whether the general public has accepted the government’s initiative or not.
The finance minister told that he has expressed India's concern over H-1B visa issue with US Officials.Â
