Madan Lal Saini appointed as Rajasthan BJP president
Rajya Sabha MP and RSS veteran Madan Lal Saini has been appointed as the new president of the Rajasthan Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The position was vacant since Ashok Parnami was asked to quit on April 16.
Saini’s appointment brings an end to the suspense regarding the appointment that was delayed due to the difference of opinion between Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and party president Amit Shah.
The party wanted a new chief before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jaipur on July 7. The position was vacant for 74 days.
Saini has been a swayamsevak and was the general secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and Kisan Morcha. He was elected as a MLA in 1990 but lost three elections in general elections of 1991 and 1998 with Assembly poll in 2008.
The Saffron party has tried to bring up a face who represents the farmers, labour class and RSS workers. His appointment is also to show other workers that anyone among them can be promoted to a better position.
Saini told the media that he would be part of worker’s activities and continue with management programmes as the party aims to get 180 seats in the Assembly polls.
