‘Look Forward To Being In Assam’, Tweets PM Modi Ahead Of His Visit To Northeast State
PM Modi Will Address A Rally In Bodo-dominated Kokrajhar Town; Days After The Centre Signed A Peace Agreement With Several Bodo Militant Groups.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said he 'looks forward' to be in Assam on February 7. PM Modi will address a rally in Assam's Bodo-dominated Kokrajhar town, days after the Centre signed a peace agreement with several Bodo militant groups and a student body.
“Tomorrow, I look forward to being in Assam. I'll be in Kokrajhar to address a public meeting. We will mark successful signing of Bodo Accord, which brings to end a problem that had been persisting for decades. It marks start of new era of peace and progress”, tweeted the Prime Minister.
The signing of the Bodo agreement led to surrender of over 1,500 militants of the major insurgent group National Democratic Front of Boroland.
Earlier, statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said Modi will address a gathering there to “hail the historic Bodo Agreement” signed on January 27.
This will be the prime minister’s first visit to the north-east since it witnessed several anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act protests in which three people lost their lives.
