PM Modi's Niece Damayanti Ben's Snatchers Detained, Belongings Recovered
Following Damayanti Ben's Complaint, 20 Teams Comprising Of 100 Police Officers Were Formed To Hunt For The Suspects.
The Delhi Police has arrested a accused and detained another for snatching purse of Damayanti Ben Modi, the niece of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday. The accused, who have been identified as Badal and Nonu, were held by the city police from the Nabi Karim area of the national capital. They had snatched the handbag of Damyanti Ben outside Gujarati Samaj Bhavan in Delhi's Civil Lines area. Damayanti is a daughter of PM Modi's brother Prahlad Modi.
On Saturday, Damayanti filed a case of snatching at a police station in the Civil Lines area after her purse was snatched by two bike-borne miscreants outside the gates of Gujarati Samaj Bhavan.
According to reports, Damayanti had returned to Delhi from Amritsar on Saturday morning. She had booked a room at Gujarati Samaj Bhavan and was going towards it in an auto-rickshaw at around 7 am when two bike-borne miscreants snatched her purse and fled from the spot.
She claimed that around Rs 56,000 in cash, credit and debit cards, two mobile phones and important documents were there in her purse.
Following her complaint, 20 teams comprising of 100 police officers were formed to hunt for the suspects.
According to an official, the two accused were following Damayanti for about 15 minutes before snatching the bag. They were identified with the help of CCTV footage.
