PM Modi approves setting up of committee headed by 'Metro Man' E Sreedharan
Moments after inaugurating the Mundka-Bahadurgarh stretch of Delhi Metro’s Green Line, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday approved the proposal of setting up of a committee to lay down standards for metro rail systems in India.
The committee will be headed by E Sreedharan, popularly known as the metro man. Elattuvalapil Sreedharan, who is a retired Indian Engineering Service (IES) officer, has served as the managing director of Delhi Metro between 1995 to 2012.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister inaugurated the much-anticipated 11.2-km-long fully-elevated Mundka-Bahadurgarh stretch of Delhi Metro’s Green Line via a video conference at 9:30 am.

Union Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Puri and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar took part in the inauguration ceremony in Bahadurgarh on Sunday.
