The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched UDAN scheme which is aimed at boosting regional connectivity with low-cost flights.
UDAN (‘Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik’) is a first-of-its-kind scheme globally to stimulate regional connectivity through a market-based mechanism, the PMO said in a tweet.

# “Ude desh ka aam nagrik” is slogan of UDAN scheme
# Shimla to Delhi flight has been started
# The fare from Delhi-Shimla will be Rs 2,500
# Fare for one-hour flight will be Rs 2,500
# Fare of Rs 2,500 for 1,000 Km
# UDAN scheme started from 70 airports
# Kadapa-Hyderabad flight and Nanded-Hyderabad flight will be there
# Earlier, only rich people used to fly in aeroplanes
# There are only 70-75 airports which are operational in India
# There are many runways which are not operational at present
# Now, people wearing sleepers can also be seen inside aeroplanes
# UDAN flights will operate on 128 air routes
