Two white tigers mauled their caretaker to death in Bannerghatta National Park in Bengaluru.
According to zoo officials the incident happened on Saturday evening. The Park's executive director Santosh Kumar confirmed Anji's death
The deceased has been identified as Ajaneya, 40-year-old. The deceased was only hired a back week into his job at the Bannerghatta Biological Park.
Police registered a case of unnatural death based on a complaint by Park authorities.
Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Wildlife, told the media that the animal keeper was attacked by two white tigers. Ajaneya suffered fatal injuries in the attack.
The animal keeper had gone inside the enclosure to them meat.
According to a zoo staff who requested anonymity said that somehow Ajaneya was pulled out from the white tiger’s enclosure.
“He was rushed to hospital but doctor declared him brought dead,” added the zoo staff.
Last month a white tiger was killed by Bengal tigers in the Bio park. Three Royal Bengal Tigers had attacked and badly wounded the white tiger. The incident had occurred on Sept 17 evening and a few visitors caught the incident on their mobile phones and also tried to stop the scuffle by shouting but to no avail.
