Kidambi Srikanth becomes World No 1 in BWF Rankings in men’s category
The 25-year Old Player Surpassed Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen By Gaining 76,895 Points At The Table. He Also Become The First Male Shuttler To Achieve The Feat As Per The Modern Ranking Sytem.
Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth joins the elite list when he became World No 1 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Thursday
The 25-year old player surpassed Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen by gaining 76,895 points at the table. He also become the first male shuttler to achieve the feat as per the modern ranking sytem.
Earlier, Saina Nehwal was the only female Indian shuttler to achieve such position in World Rankings.
Srikanth managed to achieve the top position when Axelsen lost 1660 points for not participating at the Malaysian Open last year.
Kidambi secured World No 2 spot in November last year after winning four Super Series title including Indonesia, Australia, Denmark and France, making him only the fourth in the world to achieve the same.
Moreover, HS Prannoy also improved his position at the World Ranking and jumped to the 11th position in the table.
