Pakistan’s T20 captain, Shahid Afridi made a quiet return to his hometown from Dhaka today and politely refused to speak to the media about the team’s poor show in the Asia Cup.“I will not be speaking now on any issue. I am in Karachi for two days and I will speak to you after that,” Afridi told the waiting media at the Karachi airport. The flamboyant allrounder has come under-fire after failing with the bat and not being able to inspire Pakistan to reach the finals of the Asia Cup played for the first time in the T20 format.Pakistan lost to India and Bangladesh to miss out on the final. There has been lot of speculation about the future of the 36-year-old allrounder with rumors rife that the Pakistan Cricket Board was also a divided house on whether to ask Afridi to step down before the World T20 in India or not.PCB Chairman, Shaharyar Khan has already said that he had promised Afridi he would continue as captain until the World T20 and there was no change in this plan.“After the World T20 we will look at making possible changes in the team and management set-up. But right now we will back Afridi,” he said. With two to three changes already guaranteed in the squad that will leave late next week for India, Afridi is expected to have clear discussions with the board officials on the World T20 and his future after the event. The rest of the Pakistani players who went for the Asia Cup are due to return later tonight.
