Legendary Australian pace bowler Glenn Mcgrath is highly impressed with the Indian pace attack set to participate in the Champions Trophy and has expressed confidence that India will perform well in the tournament. The top notch pacer said that India, Australia and host England will be the top favourites for three spots in the semifinals.
As far as the fourth spot goes, it may witness a good fight between South Africa and New Zealand. Mcgrath however claimed that one cannot write Pakistan off as they have a good bowling attack and can beat anyone on their day.
The Australian legend termed India the favourites before the famous India-Pakistan duel on June 4.Mcgrath was highly pleased with speedsters like Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah.
“Umesh Yadav is bowling really well, and (Jasprit) Bumrah is bowling at good pace with potent yorkers. They should do well in the tournament.”
Mcgrath is presently at the MRF Pace Foundation for yet another stint with the emerging pacemen in the country, and shared his thoughts with the media.
Terming Mitchell Starc as the best paceman in world cricket at present, he claimed that Starc has the ability to reverse both the new and old ball at great speeds.When asked about the dispute between Cricket Australia and the players over contracts, McGrath claimed that the issue “had the potential” to disrupt the Aussie campaign in the Champions Trophy. “Hopefully, they find a middle-point,” he added.
