England paceman Steven Finn has stated that his team could benefit from entering the upcoming World Cup as underdogs as it would lead them to strive harder in the tournament.
Finn said that if the team sticks together, they have the potential to upset big teams at the World Cup. According to him, the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka would give them a good month of preparation. He further said that if they could gather some belief and team ethics in place ahead of World Cup, it would put them in a good position.
England won only seven of their 18 one-day internationals this year, with having lost both their home one-day series against Sri Lanka and India in the summer.
Poised to take on Sri Lanka in the upcoming one day series, England have defeated Sri Lanka A by 56 runs in their opening match of the winter.
