Imran Khan congratulates Virat Kohli and team on maiden Test series win in Australia
Kohli’s Indian Side Is The First Asian Team To Ever Win A Test Series Down Under.
A day after skipper Virat Kohli and his team created history by becoming the first ever Indian captain to win a Test series on Australian soil, Pakistan Prime Minister and former cricketer, Imran Khan congratulated the team for the achievement. "Congratulations to Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team for the first ever win by a subcontinent team in a test series in Australia," Khan tweeted.
Kohli’s Indian side is the first Asian team to ever win a Test series Down Under, with Sri Lanka not winning a Test match while Pakistan has never won a series in Australia, with their last Test win coming 24 years ago. The magnitude of the win was not lost on Kohli, who was visibly emotional during the post-match presentation, rating it higher than the 2011 World Cup win.
Considered an inspirational former captain, Khan led Pakistan to their sole World Cup title till date, in Australia in 1992. He played 88 Tests and 175 ODIs in an illustrious career. India sealed the four-match series 2-1 after the rain-hit Sydney Test ended in a draw on Monday. The triumph ended a 71-year wait for India.   Â
