Rohit Sharma Shouts Expletives At Cheteshwar Pujara, Social Media Explodes
Rohit Sharma Shouted Expletives At Cheteshwar Pujara During The Fourth Day Of The Vizag Test And Social Media Exploded With Memes And Tweets.
When it comes to shouting expletives on the cricket field, one Indian cricket team player takes the cake. Virat Kohli, the skipper, is known to let out expletives whenever a wicket falls or when India are nearing a win. However, in the Vizag Test, this time it was not Kohli who was giving the expletives but Rohit Sharma. Having scored a century in the first innings, Rohit was on course to score back-to-back tons. However, there was one moment which caused social media to explode.
When Rohit tapped Dane Piedt to backward point and looked to take a quick single, he was sent back by Cheteshwar Pujara, not known to be a quick runner. Rohit hastily turned back to return to his crease but as he made it, the stump microphone picked up the expletive by stating, "Pujji, bhaag B*********". The audio visual captured on social media went viral. Even Ben Stokes tweeted stating, "This time it's Rohit not Virat...if you know you know."
The incident that has taken place in Vizag on October 5 is actually not new. This comes nine years after the famous VVS Laxman and Pragyan Ojha meltdown during the Mohali Test between India and Australia. With Australia one wicket away from victory and India needing less than 10 runs, Laxman was the key. Battling a bad back, he scored a brave fifty and was getting India closer to the line. Suresh Raina was his runner and Ojha was at the non-striker's end.

Laxman drove a full ball from Ben Hilfenhaus to mid on and Raina set off for the single. However, Ojha was not ready and he hastily sent Raina back. Laxman, normally gentle by nature, was fuming and he shouted expletives at Ojha which went viral at that time. The duo maintained their composure and India won the match by one wicket and went on to win the series 2-0.

Rohit blasted his second century in the match and joined an elite list of Indian players. With these two instances, October 5 should be rechristened as 'Expletive Day' in the Indian cricket team. In 2010, it was surprisingly Laxman. In 2019, surprisingly, it did not turn out to be Kohli.
