Lodha Panel dispute: Supreme Court directs BCCI to stop all disbursements to state associations
The Supreme Court On Thursday Directed BCCI To Stop All Disbursements To State Associations After Being Found Wanting To Implement Lodha Panel Reforms.
The Supreme Court has heavily come down on BCCI and directed them to stop all disbursements to state associations after being found wanting to implement Lodha panel reforms.
The Supreme Court earlier on Thursday asked BCCI to give an undertaking that it will implement Lodha Committee directions unconditionally or Court will have to pass orders.
Earlier the apex court observed that either BCCI must elect new admin or Lodha panel must give more time to BCCI to fall in line. During the ongoing hearing the Chief Justice of India also rebuked BCCI for disbursing 400 crores overnight, observing that the cricketing board should have exercised transparency in funding state associations.Â
Earlier in the day, BCCI had filed reply with the Supreme Court, refuting allegations of non- compliance with Lodha Committee recommendations.Â
A special bench of Chief Justice TS Thakur heard the Supreme Court appointed RM Lodha committee's recommendations on Thursday. The committee made the suggestion to expel the entire top brass of the BCCI.
In panel’s latest report it has suggested the Supreme Court about BCCI office bearer’s violations of Supreme Court judgement of July 18 this year. The judgement calls for implementation of the Lodha Panel recommendations for transparency in cricket administration.
The court had given the BCCI time till October 6 to respond to the panel's request to replace the current lot of BCCI administrators from with a new crop who will “ensure the smooth transition from the old to the new system recommended by the committeeâ€.
