West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday extended a warm welcome to all the players and officials of FIFA Under-17 World Cup to the city, which will host the first match on Sunday.
“I extend a very warm welcome to all the players, delegates and the organisers,” Banerjee wrote on her Twitter handle.
The city will host the England vs Chile match at the Salt Lake Stadium tomorrow evening.
Banerjee, along with a couple of senior ministers of her cabinet, are expected to be present at the stadium during tomorrow’s match, government sources said.
The city is scheduled to host 10 matches, including the final, of the tournament that kicked off yesterday in New Delhi.
