New Zealand-born Actor Russell Crowe Is Interested In Buying Leeds United, But The Club’s Chairman Has Claimed That They Are Not For Sale.
New Zealand-born actor Russell Crowe is interested in buying Leeds United, but the club’s chairman has claimed that they are not for sale.
Crowe, who supports Leeds United, would reportedly consider purchasing the club only if he is approached and the fans back him for the move.
Eleonora Sports Limited own Leeds but the club’s banned president Massimo Cellino has sold his personal stake in both the company and the club, the BBC reported.
Chairman Andrew Umbers has claimed that there have been no approaches about Crowe wanting to purchase the club.
Umbers said that Leeds are not for sale and added that the Cellino family also doesn’t wish to sell. He further said that they also do not have received any approaches contrary to reports in the press.
Umbers claimed that the ongoing legal discussions between Cellino and the Football League are being completely misinterpreted, adding that Leeds is currently being successfully restructured, rebuilt, significantly invested in, with care and planning for the longer term with the Cellino family at its heart, for the benefit of its long-suffering and passionate fans, the city and its players and staff.
The Oscar-winning actor had asked his 1.67 million Twitter followers whether it would be a good idea to buy the Championship club
