The Most Decorated Olympian Of All Time, Michael Phelps Is Set To Hang His Swimming Boots.
The most decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps is set to hang his swimming boots. The swimming legend made his Olympic debut in 2000, bagged his first gold in Athens in 2004. He has 27 Olympic medals in total, nine more than his closest rival.
Phelps has won four gold medals at Rio Olympics, winning the 200M individual medley on Thursday and the men’s 4x100 meter relay, men’s 200 meter butterfly, and 4x200 meter freestyle relay earlier this week.
Before the start of the Rio Games, the swimmer announced his retirement from the international stage. But, interestingly before London Games 2012, the same was declared by the US swimmer. A million dollar question is haunting the sports fraternity will Rio be the last for Phelps.
On the contrary, South Africa’s Le Close claimed that the fifth time Olympian will never quit swimming. Phelps will have a last go at the 4x100 medley relay on Saturday.
Michael Phelps is used to rewriting history, now he's eclipsing it too.
