2017 NBA Finals: Golden State Warriors edge past Cleveland Cavaliers 129-120 to win Game 5, clinch second title in three seasons
Golden State Warriors Edged Past Cleveland Cavaliers 129-120 In A Closely Fought Fifth Game Of The NBA Finals To Win 2017 NBA Title.
Golden State Warriors edged past Cleveland Cavaliers 129-120 in a closely fought fifth game of the NBA finals to win 2017 NBA title on Tuesday. Warriors who came into the fifth with a commanding 3-1 lead needed to wrap up the fifth game to clinch the title.
Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry who spearheaded Warriors formidable attack all season once again combined well to score a whopping 73 points to seal the victory for their team. LeBron James had a game-high 41 points but defensive breakdowns by Cleveland led to easy baskets late in the game for the Warriors, igniting a deafening crowd.
Golden State Warriors came to the finals on the back of an unprecedented 16-1 romp through the playoffs. Golden State Warriors won the Western Conference while Cleveland Cavaliers had another stellar season winning the Eastern Conference.
This championship helped Warriors extract revenge for the crushing loss to the Cavaliers last season. The Warriors also led that series, 3-1, and found themselves one minute away from being known as the greatest team of all time after winning a record 73 games in the regular season, something that no team had ever done. But then the Cavs did something that no team had ever done. They came back from a 3-1 hole in the Finals and beat the Warriors on their home court in an epic Game 7.
