The first Indian woman judoka to take part in the Olympics, Lourembam Brojeshori Devi died on Sunday following excessive internal bleeding due to pregnancy complications.32-yaer-old, Brojeshori was not aware of her pregnancy and was taking part in a 10-week training camp conducted by her employers, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Kurudampalayam near Coimbatore.She complained of stomach pain and was admitted to a hospital, where an operation was conducted.Her last rites were done by her husband Rojen Singh in Tabukhok Mayaileikai near Imphal.Brojeshori participated in 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, 2002 Asian and Commonwealth Games, besides being a part of a number of international judo events. She won gold medals in the South Asian Games held in 2006 and 2010. She also won medals at national and international level.According to T Sekar, principal of CRPF training college, the entire campus is shocked at the development and they were completely unaware that Brojeshori was two months pregnant.
