Hyderabad Hunters beat the Bengaluru Blasters in the grand finale of the Premier Badminton League to emerge as winners of Season 3.
In the start, Mathias Boe and Kim Sa Rang defeated Markis Kido and Yoo Yeon Sang opened the men’s doubles tie and won over the Hunters to take Blasters to a lead.
After this lead, Lee Hyun beat Shubhanker Dey in opening men's singles tie to give Hyderabad Hunters 2-1 lead.
In the second singles tie, World champ Viktor Axelsen beat Sai Praneeth to put the Blasters back in the lead. Carolina Marin then produced some scintillating badminton to beat Kirsty Gilmour to draw the Hyderabad Hunters in level with Bengaluru Blasters.
The Hyderabad mixed doubles pair of Satwiksairaj & Pia Zebadiah defeated Kim Sa Rang & Sikki Reddy 15-11, 15-12 to win the title for their team. The Hunters edged past the Blasters in a pulsating final which was decided in the final mixed doubles tie.
The match ended with Hyderabad Hunters scoring 4 points and Bengaluru Blasters at 3 points, thus making Hunters the season winner.
