On the backdrop of Brussels bombing that killed more than 30 and injured at least 230 people, tech giant Google has announced free call service to Belgian cell phone numbers and Turkish land lines via their Hangouts, Hangouts Dialer, or Google Voice apps. Google has also announced free calls to Turkey as well. The company posted this piece of information in the blog post and mentioned what they would do to offer relief to the victims.“We are deeply saddened and appalled by the bombings in Brussels today, and by the recent violence in Turkey. Our thoughts are with the victims of these attacks, and their families. To help people stay informed and connected with loved ones, we’re offering free calls via Hangouts, Hangouts Dialer or Google Voice to Belgium and Turkey. You can now make free calls to people on Belgium’s biggest mobile carriers—Lycamobile, Mobistar, Proximus, and Telenet—and to all landlines in Turkey,” Google mentioned in its blog.Google is also offering up-to-date information on the attacks and situations in affected cities that users can transfer over the various services.
Other social giant Facebook also activated its safety check feature for people in Brussels. Two suicide bombers who blew themselves up in Brussels are believed to be brothers who were being sought for links with Salah Abdeslam, the prime suspect in the Paris attacks, RTBF television reported today, citing police sources.RTBF named the two as Khalid and Ibrahim El Bakraoui, saying Khalid last week rented an apartment in Brussels under a false name where police found Abdeslam's fingerprints after a raid.
