After Rs 199 monthly plan, will Netflix finally launch much-anticipated Rs 65 weekly pack?
A Monthly Plan Of Rs 250 And Weekly Plan Of Rs 65 Was In Pipe-line And Recently Netflix Introduced Its Cheapest Monthly Plan Of Rs 199. The Plan Is A Mobile-only Monthly Plan Which Means The User Will Only Be Able To Access All The Shows And Movies Available On Netflix Through A Smartphone Only.
Recently, there were some reports that popular streaming service, Netflix is planning to roll out monthly and weekly plan for the Indian audience.
A monthly plan of Rs 250 and weekly plan of Rs 65 was in pipe-line and recently Netflix introduced its cheapest monthly plan of Rs 199. The plan is a mobile-only monthly plan which means the user will only be able to access all the shows and movies available on Netflix through a smartphone only.
Netflix is looking to expand its user base in India and compete with other streaming services including Amazon Prime, Hotstar, Zee5 and more. Earlier, there were reports that Netflix is testing to launch Rs 250 monthly plan but the company rolled out Rs 199 plan instead.
However, there is no sign of launching the weekly plan anytime soon.
Nigel Baptiste, Director, Partner Engagement of Netflix spoke to India Today and said, Netflix currently has no plans to launch the Rs 65 per week plan in India anytime soon. He added that the company, for now, will wait to see how the new Rs 199 per month plan works in the country. After the launch of Rs 199 monthly plan, Netflix now offers four monthly packs in the country.
With the addition of Rs 199 plan, Netflix now offers four monthly plan including Rs 199 per month (mobile), Rs 499 per month (basic), Rs 649 per month (standard) and Rs 799 per month (premium) packs.
Meanwhile, Netflix is also testing a similar plan in other countries but there is no official words on the same yet. As of now, the plan is limited to the Indian market.
