As novel coronavirus spreads in various countries leading to almost 7,000 deaths worldwide, American multinational technology company, Microsoft, has launched a web portal to track its transmission. The website provides updated information regarding the progress of coronavirus pandemic for each country. The website has an interactive map which allows users to click on any country in order to visit the specific data and read related articles on the state of COVID-19.

Microsoft made the announcement about the website two days after US President Donald Trump announced that Google had started working on a portal related to COVID-19-related for US citizens.
The Microsoft generated website aggregates data from international institutions like World Health Organization (WHO), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), say reports.

Moreover, the number of deaths worldwide due to coronavirus has crossed the 7000-mark with China, Italy, Iran, Spain, South Korea and France becoming the worst-affected nations. China has recorded the highest number of fatalities with number of casualties rising up to 3,213, followed by Italy with 2,158 deaths.
In India, 3 people so far have lost their lives and the number of confirmed coronavirus cases gone up to 125, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs. Government of India has adopted various measures including travel restrictions for visitors from EU countries and UK from March 18.
The coronavirus scare has also necessitated the cancellation of major world events including UN Security Council’s meetings slated for this week. UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters that a positive COVID-19 case had been identified among staff at the organization's Secretariat in New York. Moreover, it also led to the postponement of PM Modi’s visit to Brussels and Bagladesh's Dhaka for birth centenary celebrations of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
