Reliance Jio is now targeting the laptop market in India, after completing talks with American chipmaker Qualcomm. Jio is looking to bring laptops with built-in cellular connection.
The laptop is Jio’s next big move to capture the Indian market and increase its average revenue per user (ARPU).
Jio is looking to take the device and power it with data and content said Miguel Nunes, Senior Director of Qualcomm Technologies.

Qualcomm has already started working on ‘Always Connected PC’ with big shots like Asus, Lenovo and HP on global basis. A global research firm named Counterpoint Research specialists in technology and mobile products, said that almost 5 million laptops are sold in India every year and laptops with cellular connectivity could be the next big hit in India and for ARPU.
The firm further mentioned that even with a million laptops, the 4G networks could charge Rs 300-Rs 1,000 a month, which means operators could generate a whooping Rs 30 crore to Rs 360 crore a month.
Reliance Jio and Qualcomm are already on a tie up for a 4G feature phone.
