IPL 10: Bhuvneshwar Kumar bags Purple Cap for second straight season

New Delhi:

Sunrisers Hyderabad seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged the Purple Cap award for picking up the most wickets in the tenth season of the IPL. The seamer picked up an astonishing 26 wickets from the 14 games he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

It is creditable for Bhuvneshwar Kumar who bagged the Purple Cap in the last IPL edition, picking up 23 wickets in 17 games for eventual champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the outright strike weapon in a power-packed Sunrisers Hyderabad pace attack comprising of old war horse Ashish Nehra and young turks Mohammad Siraj and Siddharth Kaul. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was menacing with his natural swing and breezy pace, which he has certainly stepped up in this edition of the IPL

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was immaculate with his line and length all through the season and cartwheeled the stumps of the best top order batsmen.

Bhuvi was equally effective in the death overs where he choked the oppositions from ending their innings with a flourish. Bhuvneshwar was the runaway leader of the pack right from the very start of the tournament scalping wickets at will for his team.

However 'Bhuvi' was given some competition for the coveted honour by Rising Pune Supergiant seamer Jaydev Unakdat who ended up with 24 wickets and Mumbai's pace duo of Mitchell and Jasprit Bumrah who scalped 19 wickets each.

It is notable that the Purple cap has been won by some champion bowlers who played an instrumental role in making their sides lift the IPL title. Lasith Malinga, Morne Morkel, Mohit Sharma, Dwayne Bravo, Sohail Tanvir, Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh are the proud recipients of the Purple Cap over the course of IPL history.
