Pakistan wants Gilgit-Baltistan, implements new order

On May 21 2018, Gilgit – Baltistan (GB) government announced the Gilgit- Baltistan Order 2018, replacing the GB Empowerment and Self – Governance Order of 2009. However, the notification regarding the implementation of new order was issued a day later. Pakistan claims that Order 2018 was approved by the federal cabinet, endorsed by the National Security Council, and subsequently approved by the Gilgit – Baltistan Legislative Assembly and hence protected by its Constitution that accords political, administrative, financial and judicial powers to GB. Now there are heavy protests by the people of Gilgit against Pakistan regarding the decision.
