85-year-old wheelchair-bound voter casts his vote in Jammu and Kashmir

An 85-year-old voter, Jaidev Sharma, arrived at the polling booth to cast his vote on a wheelchair in Jammu and Kashmir. The high-stakes political battle to choose the 17th Lok Sabha began on Thursday with 91 constituencies going to polls in the first phase of voting. Other than Lok Sabha seats, voting for Assembly polls will also be held in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and the first phase of Odisha. The polling will begin at 7 am and continue till 6 pm. Elaborate security arrangements have been made and lakhs of security personnel have been deployed to ensure free and fair polls.
