Vivo Y53i with 8-mp camera launched in India at Rs 7,990

Chinese smartphone company Vivo has very quietly launched a new entry-level smartphone in its Y-series. Titled Y53i, the device is priced at Rs 7,990.
The Vivo Y53i competes with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Nokia 2 among the others at the launched price.
However, there was no official announcement made by the company, but a Mumbai-based retailer, named Mahesh Telecom, shared the details of the smartphone on Twitter.
The new Vivo Y53i sports a 5-inch display with a resolution of 540X960 pixel. However, there is no HD resolution present in the display screen. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core SoC, the smartphone packs 2 GB of RAM.
On the camera front, the Vivo Y53i possesses an 8-mp rear camera with LED flash, along with a 5-mp front camera lens. The selfie camera also supports the Face Unlock feature.

Packed with a 2,500mAH battery, the Y53i comes with connectivity options like dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
The Y53i runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is available via offline retail channels. There is no word on online availability of the smartphone yet.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 which is also priced at Rs 7,999 for the base variant, comes with an HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, a better Snapdragon 450 SoC, along with a bigger 3,300mAh battery making it a value for money proposition.
